The Paso Doble.
The Paso Doble actually originated in France but is modeled after a Spanish folk dance based on the bullfight. The male dancer plays the part of the toreador while the lady is his cape. It is danced to dramatic march music with dramatic poses and energy and is quite spectacular.
Paso Doble is rarely seen as a social dance. In competition it is strictly part of the International Latin.
Paso Doble is the only Latin dance with European roots as opposed to the others which have African or Latino histories.
